Yosemite Lights: Bird

The Mist Trail is one section of the trail to the peak of Half Dome - Yosemite’s signature hike. About 1.5 miles from the trailhead are the Vernal Falls. I found myself surrounded by birds that resembled blue jays surrounding the small pond above the waterfall where we stopped after our hike. The Steller's Jay is a cousin of the blue jay and can be found up and down North America on the Pacfic Coast. It is important to note that the feathers of this bird only shine a royal blue color when light is reflected off the feather, not when light passes through. There is no blue pigment in the feathers, but the structural arrangement of keratin allows only blue wavelengths of light to be reflected.

This poster has a partly glossy, partly matte finish and it'll add a touch of sophistication to any room.
